Class Descriptions

Components of a Submissive's Psychology

Host Event: TES Fest, July 3

In this seminar we discuss the different components that
collectively influence the needs, wants, and behaviors of
submissives, and how unmet needs affect this influence. We then
discuss practical applications of this model: its impact on
relationship compatibility and longevity and its application to
various scenarios.

Helpful to:

Dominants who wish to better understand submissives, make their
relationships more resilient, and better understand basis for
compatibility.

Submissives who wish to better understand self, learn how to
process feelings, learn how to communicate what is important in
a relationship, and understand what would be important to a
compatible dominant.

Languages of D/s

Host Event: TES Fest, July 4

We begin this seminar by examining what creates a power
imbalance in social relationships, and how the organic power
imbalance has potential to undermine the D/s dynamic in a
relationship. We then discuss the different ways people express
and receive dominance and submission, and how to uncover which
languages of D/s each person speaks. This class will be
particularly helpful to those who wish to better grasp the
mental aspects of D/s, and those who have been approached by a
submissive partner about dominance and are unsure how to
respond.

Helpful to:

Dominants who wish to understand how the organic power can
undermine the D/s dynamic.

Dominants and submissives who wish to know the different ways
D/s can be expressed so they can identify their key modes.

Dominants and submissives who wish to understand the importance
of these languages in a D/s relationship.

Demystifying Psychology of Humiliation

Host Event: Black Rose Meeting in DC on July 6

Does hearing the word humiliation make you uncomfortable? Are
you puzzled why someone would find humiliation erotic? Do you
enjoy humiliation and want to learn how to take it further?

We begin by discussing the difference between embarrassment,
humiliation, and degradation. Then we discuss two broad forms of
humiliation play: D/s humiliation and SM humiliation. Next we
talk about common themes and risks associated with each type of
humiliation play, and how identifying these themes can allow one
to use creativity for other areas to explore. Lastly, we discuss
ideas for responsible public humiliation.

Helpful to:

Those who wish to understand why someone would enjoy
humiliation.

Those who wish to do humiliation play but must overcome personal
conflict.

Those who wish to know what are the different types of
humiliation play, what are their themes and risks, how
identifying themes can help devise other types of play, and how
to do responsible public play.

How to Provide Excellent Service

Host Event: Sexploratorium in Philadelphia on July 10

I discuss my approach to service, which includes multiple
elements that fall under the following types of service:
anticipatory, elegant, sacred, and creative service. I use an
example service scenario and interactively discuss what can be
done to achieve these elements of excellent service within that
scenario. Depending on time and space, I either do a demo or
lead the class through creating excellent service for additional
example service scenarios.

Helpful to:

Service submissives who wish to learn to or add to their
repertoire about how to provide excellent service.

Dominants who wish to teach service to submissives.

Psychology of Submissives [Combines
(a) Components of a Submissive's Psychology and
(b) Psychology of Service Submissives]

Host Events:
(a) Sexploratorium in Philadelphia on July 10,
(b) SHAG in NYC on July 11

Are you a dominant who would like to understand the psychology
of submissives and what can help your relationship last? Are you
a dominant who is uncomfortable to receive service, or cannot
fathom why someone would want to clean your house? Are you a
submissive who would like to understand why you have conflicting
drives, and how to deal with internal conflicts? Are you a
service submissive who has felt unfulfilled and had difficulty
conveying what is important to you towards service and D/s
relationships in general?

First we clarify terminology - what we mean by a submissive and
related terms. We discuss submission with respect to a
personality trait, a sexuality-based role preference, and social
status.

Next we discuss a general model for a submissive's psychology.
The model discusses different components that collectively
influence the needs, wants, and behaviors of submissives, and
how unmet needs affect this influence. We then discuss practical
applications of this model: its impact on relationship
compatibility and longevity and its application to various
scenarios.

Then we will interactively discuss the challenges faced by
dominants and submissives with respect to service. We will then
discuss archetypes of service submissives, how to identify these
archetypes, and why each archetype likes to provide service. We
will then talk about how identifying these archetypes helps
determine compatibility, and to understand what can enhance or
deflate motivation to serve for the different archetypes.

Helpful to:

Dominants who wish to better understand submissives, make their
relationships more resilient, and better understand basis for
compatibility.

Dominants who wish to understand service submissives and what
motivates them.

Submissives who wish to better understand self, learn how to
process feelings, learn how to communicate what is important in
a relationship, and understand what would be important to a
compatible dominant.

Service submissives who wish to better understand what motivates
them to serve, and learn how to communicate needs to a dominant
about what makes service fulfilling.

Humiliation Class and Lab [Combines
(a) Demystifying Psychology of Humiliation and
(b) Humiliation: Now It's Time to Play]

Host Events:
(a) Sexploratorium in Philadelphia on July 10,
(b) SHAG in NYC on July 11

Does hearing the word humiliation make you uncomfortable? Are
you puzzled why someone would find humiliation erotic? Do you
enjoy humiliation but are conflicted about it? Do you want to
know how you can expand your humiliation play?

We begin by briefly discussing the psychology behind
humiliation: what are the differences between D/s humiliation
and SM humiliation, why someone might like to engage in these
practices, and what are risks. Then we focus on identifying
themes for humiliation play, and how identifying themes allows
one to use their creativity. We then have an example interview
of a sub to discuss what types of questions to ask, and how to
interpret the answers. Then we collectively brainstorm to create
a humiliation scene based on the answers from the interview.

Helpful to:

Those who do not understand why someone would enjoy
humiliation.

Those who wish to do humiliation play but must overcome
personal
conflict.

Those who wish to learn more about how to pursue this type of
play.

BIO

Sea has been a BDSM gypsy of sorts for almost 13 years and
attends social and educational events across BDSM, leather, and
fetish communities in multiple cities. He is proud to call home
Austin, a city where a homeless crossdresser is a local
celebrity who ran for mayor, a local band bases all its songs
around the lead singer?s fetish for feet, and adults gather each
year to celebrate the birthday of Eeyore? yes, Eeyore from
Winnie the Pooh!

Sea has done his share to help, as they like to say there, keep
Austin weird. His contributions to the Austin scene include
hosting and promoting a fetish night for three years, during
which time he wrote and directed, performed in, and arranged
music for multiple fetish shows. BDSM influences his artistic
expression, which has occurred in the form of fetish
photography, DJing music for scene events, dance, and writings.
He has also done stand-up comedy at multiple BDSM events.

Sea regularly presents at BDSM events across the country with a
focus on communication and psychology, especially the psychology
of submissives. He was recently invited to join the Advisory
Board for weekend conventions DomCon Los Angeles and DomCon
Atlanta. His current projects include speaking at college human
sexuality class, visiting vanilla forums and taking a tactful
stand for BDSM as needed, and providing information to those
seeking out BDSM or ambivalent about their interest. His past
contributions include chairing the Austin chapter of The Next
Generation BDSM group for four years.
